Summary |
The story begins with Sam MarDock (born in 1862 in Canton, China,as Mar Yum Eh) arriving in California by ship in 1875. Sam worked on ranches and the railroad. His railroad job led him to Tyler, Texas, where he spent the rest of his life, aside from a few trips to China, one of which led to marriage to Wong Shee in 1897. Because of immigration laws, Sam's wife couldn't come to the United States until 1912. Three children were born in Tyler, Texas. Sam died in 1942 in Tyler, Texas. |
