Summary |
This story is part of the series of Tie'guai Thief, inspired by the TV series "The Blind Man Goes to the End of the World (Mang'xia'zou'tian'ya)" in which Katsushintaro played a blind man with extraordinary skills. In this vein, Ma conceived a disabled, crippled gentleman, Lui Wai Leung (lv’wei’liang), as the protagonist to combat the evils of the world in his own series. Through Lui Wai-leung, Ma Yun passionately condemns the societal injustices caused by the corrupted police force during that period. Despite his disabilities, Lui Wai-leung is a formidable fighter, wielding an iron crutch with a concealed mechanism that doubles as a tranquilizer gun or a hook and cable for escape. Readers thoroughly enjoyed the book, making it a resounding success, leading to its publication as a stand-alone book, marketed across Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. Furthermore, the novel's popularity prompted an adaptation into a captivating radio drama. |
